2011-10 User Group Meeting Executive Director Report
The presentation discussed goals for 2012 to 2015. Goals included becoming financially sustainable, improve Aleph operations and customer support, be the Premier Evergreen Service Provider in the Upper Midwest, improve user discovery, create new products and services, and improve customer satisfaction.
The 2011 PALS Report focused on Aleph subsystems, updates to PALS products and services (EZproxy, MnPALS Plus, PALSconnect Linker, PALSconnect ERM, Evergreen), and current activities of task forces and office teams. Highlights include global changes to bibliographic records to reflect new MARC standards and testing Aleph version 21 before Consortium-wide implementation.
2011-10 User Group Meeting Futures Interest Group Report
The report lists the FIG meetings that took place from fall 2010 to fall 2012. Topics discussed include federated vs. aggregated search, eXtensible Catalog, legal issues with e-books and e-readers, mobile access to library resources, and digital asset management.
2011-10 User Group Meeting Reports Work Group Highlights 2010-2011
The report recounts the highlights of the Reports Work Group from 2010 to 2011. The group met bimonthly via conference call to discuss creating new reports, improving existing reports, phasing out Priv-20, and how to answer IPED/NCES/ALS statistical questions with Aleph reports.
The report describes User Council meetings from fall 2010 to fall 2011. Meeting topics included better ways to prepare for User Group elections and workday planning. Over the course of the year, the Reference User Group changed its name to the Reference and Instruction User Group. The Cataloging User Group changed its governance structure to have three representatives from any two-year institution on the steering committee, rather than from a specific type of two-year institution.
The presentation discussed how to keep circulation tables up-to-date in each new academic year by adjusting circulation due dates, PLIF loader dates, patron expire dates, circulation overdue notices and bills, and calendar hours.
2011-4 Circulation/ILL Workday Library Services to Distance/Online Patrons
The presentation accompanied a discussion where panelists from several libraries talked about their services for distance and online patrons. Specific topics discussed included libraries' individual policies, administrative support for online services, the best ways to assist distance and online patrons, and more.
