2011-4 Reference and Instruction Workday Reference Source Eval
Description
The document is meant to walk students through the process of locating and evaluating references for research projects at Concordia College. It includes instructions on how to search the MnPALS Plus online catalog.
Motions Passed: That the User Council accepts as completed the work of the DTTF and disband the group while establishing working groups for any new discovery tools and services PALS may be exploring; that the User Council establishes a “MnPALS Plus Working Group” to provide oversight for decision-making for MnPALS Plus; that all future suggestions and requests for refinements and enhancements to MnPALS Plus should be submitted to a MnPALS Plus board created on MnPALS forums. Bug reports should continue to be reported through the Support Center; recommend that the Executive Committee consider that the Needs Assessment Task Force draft a proactive Library 2020 document as an informative response to MnSCU 2020.
Motion passed: That the MnPALS Strategic Plan dated December 2006, be reviewed by all Executive Committee members before the next quarterly meeting and discussed as an agenda item at the November meeting.
The 2011 PALS Report focused on Aleph subsystems, updates to PALS products and services (EZproxy, MnPALS Plus, PALSconnect Linker, PALSconnect ERM, Evergreen), and current activities of task forces and office teams. Highlights include global changes to bibliographic records to reflect new MARC standards and testing Aleph version 21 before Consortium-wide implementation.

Description
The report lists the FIG meetings that took place from fall 2010 to fall 2012. Topics discussed include federated vs. aggregated search, eXtensible Catalog, legal issues with e-books and e-readers, mobile access to library resources, and digital asset management.
