2011-10 Reference and Instruction User Group Meeting Minutes and Agenda
Description
Topics discussed include labeling streaming videos, new MARC tags for RDA, and elections: Amanda Bolland, Bethany Lutheran College, and Travis Dolence, MSU Moorhead volunteered for the two At Large Member positions. The volunteers were approved by acclamation. Motions passed: Change the wording when ILL requests are submitted to “Request created successfully. Check Your Borrowing Record for more information.” The next item was a recommendation to change the language in the OPAC when ILL items are intransit between libraries from “Intransit/Sublibrary” to “ILL.” The final item on the PALS report was a recommendation to change the language in the OPAC from “Print Book” to “Printed Book.”
The 2011 PALS Report focused on Aleph subsystems, updates to PALS products and services (EZproxy, MnPALS Plus, PALSconnect Linker, PALSconnect ERM, Evergreen), and current activities of task forces and office teams. Highlights include global changes to bibliographic records to reflect new MARC standards and testing Aleph version 21 before Consortium-wide implementation.
2011-4 Reference and Instruction Workday Presentation
Description
The presentation covered the 2011 Reference and Instruction Workday agenda, the new PALS website, PALSconnect, Aleph version 20, PALSevergreen, the MnPALS Future Interest Group, and MnPALS Plus enhancements.
Adoption of the document, Statements of Consortium Vision, as amended by members at the April, 2012 Annual Meeting, was moved, seconded, and passed. The EC adopted the charge of the Web Scale Discovery Task Force as presented on the PALS wiki. https://wiki.mnpals.org/index.php/Refining_the_Charge
Minutes from Reference User Group meeting at St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud, Minnesota. Elections were held. Topics include the PALS report, reports from working groups and task forces (including web scale discovery), workday planning. Melissa Prescott presented information regarding LibData.
Recommendation to the UMWUG planning committee to schedule UMWUG for 10/28-29. Approved. Motion approved to provide recommended ILL language via listserv to MnPALS libraries.

Topics discussed include the mobile version of MnPALS Plus, LibData and LibStats, and elections: Pam Sukalski (Southwest Minnesota State University for State Universities; Jim Parsons (St. Ben’s/St. John’s) for Private Colleges and Universities; Lisa Forslund (North Hennepin Community College) for a 1-year term, and Jennie Simning (Hennepin Technical College-Brooklyn Park) for a 2-year term for the MnSCU Two-year Colleges.
Agenda items include sessions on the Reports Group's recent activities, Islandora, useful apps for productivity and database access, electronic resources in libraries, RDA, social media, and Aleph Inventory at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
2012-10 User Group Meeting Executive Director Report
Description
The presentation covered strategic goals for 2013 to 2015. Goals included strengthening PALS' financial position, using Islandora Digital Asset Management System, and investigating Open Access Publishing Systems.
The 2012 PALS Report includes all Aleph Subsystem Reports, news relating to PALS products and services, and recent activities of the various Task Forces and Office Teams. Highlights include updates to many reports and tables, the MnPALS Plus mobile website, and a new web interface for patron booking.
The report details the User Council meetings from fall 2011 to fall 2012. Topics discussed at meetings included the 2011 User Group Meeting, MnPALS Future ILS Task Force, the PALS Universe proposal, and Aleph version 21.
