Topics discussed include the subsystem version 20 update, Minitex, the MnPALS Indexing Task Force, RDA changes, and elections: Carrie Curie (MSCTC, Moorhead), Sarah Quimby (Historical Society), and Diane Narum (Bemidji State) were elected for two-year terms. Motion passed: Replace the three representative types of Community Colleges and Technical Colleges with one type, MnSCU Two-year Colleges. MnSCU Two-year Colleges would have three representatives on the Cataloging Steering Committee.
The 2011 PALS Report focused on Aleph subsystems, updates to PALS products and services (EZproxy, MnPALS Plus, PALSconnect Linker, PALSconnect ERM, Evergreen), and current activities of task forces and office teams. Highlights include global changes to bibliographic records to reflect new MARC standards and testing Aleph version 21 before Consortium-wide implementation.

Topics discussed include labeling streaming videos, new MARC tags for RDA, and elections: Amanda Bolland, Bethany Lutheran College, and Travis Dolence, MSU Moorhead volunteered for the two At Large Member positions. The volunteers were approved by acclamation. Motions passed: Change the wording when ILL requests are submitted to “Request created successfully. Check Your Borrowing Record for more information.” The next item was a recommendation to change the language in the OPAC when ILL items are intransit between libraries from “Intransit/Sublibrary” to “ILL.” The final item on the PALS report was a recommendation to change the language in the OPAC from “Print Book” to “Printed Book.”
2011-4 Reference and Instruction Workday Presentation
Description
The presentation covered the 2011 Reference and Instruction Workday agenda, the new PALS website, PALSconnect, Aleph version 20, PALSevergreen, the MnPALS Future Interest Group, and MnPALS Plus enhancements.
Motion: The PALS Executive Committee endorses the PALS Universe concept of common systems, central funding, and centralized web scale discovery for students on all MnSCU campuses. Motion: FY13 User fees are approved, not to exceed 4%.
Adoption of the document, Statements of Consortium Vision, as amended by members at the April, 2012 Annual Meeting, was moved, seconded, and passed. The EC adopted the charge of the Web Scale Discovery Task Force as presented on the PALS wiki. https://wiki.mnpals.org/index.php/Refining_the_Charge
Minutes from Fall 2012 Cataloging User Group at St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud, Minnesota. Included in minutes are brief summaries (and links) to the PALS report, Cataloging Steering Committee update, the RDA Task Force formation, Authorities Task Force update, Minitex Report, and workday planning. The RDA Task force draft mission and goals are included with the minutes. Motion passed: to approve Steering Committee changes to check_docs updates as necessary. Motion passed: to create an RDA Task Force. Motion passed: to approve the charge for the RDA Task Force as is.
